Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the team reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Questers and Strategists parties.
Fans can anticipate finding out which characters will be where in the season’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
